Ogben Schmutzel Posted July 15, 2006 Report Posted July 15, 2006 Is it one of the ones from Halfords? If I recall correctly the instructions on the one I read (I did not use it though!) said that it was important that the correct charge point (sorry can't recall what the 'charge point' was really called) was used. There is one on the high pressure and one on the low side of the aircon system, and also that the engine and presumably the system was running when charge was being applied. All I can suggest is that you read the instructions again very carefully. Best of luck.Oggy Quote
ALARM MAN Posted July 15, 2006 Report Posted July 15, 2006 Be careful as when he does ours he removes gas cleans ane refills he says that they should not sell them as they dont really do the correct jobby Ian Quote
Masked Marauder Posted July 15, 2006 Report Posted July 15, 2006 Air con on and set to cold, engine running, you fill though the "low" or suction side. Thats the cold side with the fat pipe.... Nor surprise Alarm Man to hear of an air con guy saying the DIY kits should not be on sale..... Quote
MrT Posted July 16, 2006 Report Posted July 16, 2006 I have often wondered about top up kits in that if you are continually topping up you are also adding oil and sealer every time. When the system slowly loses pressure, does the oil escape as well as the gas as if it does not, you will end up with a system full of oil and sealer? Quote
