Guest V6Nik Posted October 1, 2003 Report Posted October 1, 2003 I'm looking to replace the aftermarket Aiwa and 6 cd changer for a single CD/Radio.What Ford Stereo will fit (if you can tell me the model codes etc, thanks)? I'm thinking of the double din size that are fitted in mondeo's and the like. CheersNik Quote
Guest JIMSTDI Posted October 1, 2003 Report Posted October 1, 2003 hi nik is this to go in your 96 gal james Quote
Ivor_E_Tower Posted October 2, 2003 Report Posted October 2, 2003 Facelifted models: The standard Gal slot is NOT double-DIN but a custom size. If you want to fit double DIN you need the centre console trim that goes with the satnav system - apparently it's only a few quid and the switches transfer straight over,If yours is pre-facelift then I don't know the slot sizes, sorry. This means that most of the Ford OEM radio units are NOT double-DIN either, but a custom size just smaller than double-DIN. Guest JIMSTDI Posted October 2, 2003 Report Posted October 2, 2003 hi nik so whats wrong with the aiwa unit james Quote
Guest V6Nik Posted October 2, 2003 Report Posted October 2, 2003 Thanks Fred. James Hi,There's nowt wrong with it really, although it doesn't self tune (RDS) but i guess thats because it doesn't power the aerial (I think i read something on here about having to power the aerial?) It's mostly because I find it inconvenient to get under the seat to change CD's in the changer around, i like to vary my music a lot, and I found the single cd in a previous Mondeo to be easier (CD's in the glovebox, quick change whilst driving etc).I thought of an original Ford stereo as I want to bring the old girl back to as new over the coming months. CheersNick Quote
