Hello,

Does anyone know how to check if a parking sensor is working ?

I have an intermittent fault on my gal. When i put her in reverse i get a constant tone and have to switch it off using the switch near the radio. However this is intermittent. It's ok at the moment.

Sometimes when i press the switch for the front sensors to work i also get this constant tone.

I have taken it to Ford and they plugged it into a machine but could find no fault (surprise, surprise) .They have tried exchanging the module under the front passenger seat but the problem was still there.I have checked all the sensors and they all pulse and make a clicking noise.I have been told that a sensor even if it isn't working properly will make a clicking noise, etc. Is this true ?

I had water in the front passenger footwell becuase of the rear washer jet hose coming apart but don't think that the wiring loom running along the side of the door was affected too much.It just got a little wet and i sorted the leak more or less straight away.I don't think the module under the passenger seat got wet ,but all the same a new module fitted didn't make a difference .

I would be grateful for any advice/help.I don't think that i have a wiring fault and Ford seem to think that i have a fault with one of the parking sensors, but which one ???????

Help,help ,help............

Hi mate,

the only advise i can give is to check and wd40 the connectors between the loom and the sensors. This is usually found under the bumpers, when i put my towbar on i found the rear one covered in all kinds of rubbish.

good luck

Hi

I had exactly the same problem, it was down to a disconnected plug.

When you put it in reverse mine gave a constant tone and the light on the dash switch flashed, indicating a problem. When I further investigated underneath the front passenger seat (under the carpet) the connector had come loose from the front buzzer making the system fail, re-connected and works like a dream now. Hope that helps. :(

Has anyone had this problem associated with the heat?

On these very hot days if the back of the car is in the sun, the back sensor sounds continually

until i have driven a few miles and presumably it cools down.

I have a tow bar would this affect it?

we also have a towbar, and just recently (hot weather) the rear sensors have more often than not been going off when theres nothing there.

i can only presume, that warm weather makes the sensors more sensitive (better operating conditions?) and then they pick up the towbar.

only a guess tho!
