Well, that time has now come where i think i need to replace all the vacuum hoses.

Over the past 4 years i've cut peices out and used pipe connecters to reconnect the two good ends.

Thats worked fine until now.

Having inspected several of the pipes, i think its time i invested in some new ones.

Does anybody have any details of sizes and lengths.

The lengths i'm not to bothered about but there seems to be a few different internal diameters.

I've tried to measure them but you can get 3mm, 3.5mm internal diameters etc and using a ruler is not an ideal way to measure especially with a rubber hose thats worn, a 1/2mm isnt even noticable unless the 2 pipes are side by side.

Would anybody recommend the silicon ones over the rubber and materal ones?

Any technical spec would be most appreciated.

Oh, by the way, its a 1.9tdi (1997/8)

yep - i'd also like to know! Mine are looking dog rough.

Also can anyone suggest a motor factor (online or other) that sells the stuff. I have tried 2 (including Halfords) with no luck.

Just replaced all of mine. I purchased 3x1m lengths of 3mm Silicone vacuum hose in red yellow and blue from ebay - absolutely perfect for the long runs to the turbo etc and 1m 4mm blue for the larger hoses to the egr. Works great and Vagcom says I have the right boost curve and it goes better, so I am now chuffed.

Thanks BrookyDave,

Did you use any extra clips(metal or cable ties) on the end of the hoses or just slide on.

I've seen the silicon stuff at Demon tweeks at an acceptable price.

If the 3 & 4mm works, thats what i'll replace it all with.

Any probs and i'll let you all know. :D

I used very small cable ties.

perkyl8r (4mmblue) and viper_performance (3mm x3 lengths) were the two ebay members I got mine from, and first claas products they supplied.

Be very carefull how you remove the old metal clips. I believe it is easy to snap of the plastic stub pipes..
