Danny Barratt Posted July 8, 2006 Report Posted July 8, 2006 Hi I have a 2002 Galaxy Ghia TDI Auto. The parking sensors don't work at all. When i press the switch and am reversing the dash switch lights up and flashes. Has anyone had any problems with these that can suggest where the problem may be. I have tried putting the car in drive and getting someone to walk in front of the front sensors and nothing, the same with reverse and the rear sensors. Ocassionally when i put it into reverse it omits and beep and then a long tone. Please help me if you can. Many ThanksDanny Barratt  Quote
Guest 3.5bullet Posted July 8, 2006 Report Posted July 8, 2006 doesnt pressing the switch, switch off the front sensors? the flashing switch and the continuous tone signals a fault in the system! Quote
chromedome Posted July 8, 2006 Report Posted July 8, 2006 Look under the front passenger seat to see if the control box is under water. If so do a search for water in footwell. Quote
Alhambra Posted July 8, 2006 Report Posted July 8, 2006 On my wifes Alhambra the control box is beside the battery. could have been an after-market fit. Maybe one of the sensors are defective or a loose connection. Quote

Alhambra Posted July 9, 2006 Report Posted July 9, 2006 [sang to the tune of Danny Boy] Oh Danny boy, your rear wiper pipe could be leaking, at the joint under the passengers door, if it is you'll have to remove the tirm& the sound proofing carpet oh danny boy, its a pain in the arse...... Danny Barratt Posted July 10, 2006 Author Report Posted July 10, 2006 Thanks all for your replies. After further investigation the control box was all o.k but seems that a wire had become or had been disconnected to the warning beeper which was causing the system to report failure by the flashing switch. The garage had been notified about this problem and had reported it as fixed although they hadn't. Well they work like a treat now. Thanks all for the helpDanny Barratt <_< :( ps. Its great when its something simple that costs nothing but good avice Quote

Just had the same problem over the weekend! Quote
Danny Barratt Posted August 20, 2006 Author Report Posted August 20, 2006 Not sure where the beepers are but it was the control box under the passenger front seat that was disconnected. I think the beeper for the front is under the passenger seat and the rear is in the passenger side panel in the boot. Hope this helps. ;) Quote
sanjsanj Posted August 21, 2006 Report Posted August 21, 2006 Look under the front passenger seat to see if the control box is under water. If so do a search for water in footwell. I thought they removed this control module elsewhere by 1997 let alone 2002...also, do the mk2's which have parking sensors have both front and rear or was the rear standard and the front optional etc? Guest gooner52 Posted August 21, 2006 Report Posted August 21, 2006 mk2 s .zetec as standard as with the ghia front and rear sensors Quote
TKPeters Posted August 22, 2006 Report Posted August 22, 2006 You will need to get it Diagnosed by Ford or someone who has VAG-COM I had a Rear Mid Right sensor fail with the sam symptoms as yours & the diag picked it up They're approx Quote

sanjsanj Posted August 23, 2006 Report Posted August 23, 2006 I'm thinking of getting an MK2.....are the parking sensors usually crap? what usually causes the prolem, the sensors or the control module? or anything else? Quote
