Guest Frank Posted July 7, 2006 Report Posted July 7, 2006 Hi - First post so hopefully someone can help me  I've had my Galaxy (1.9 TDI Ghia - 2002) for about 6 months now, and apart from the turbo blowing up just after buying it (Eek !!) it's been a great vehicle. However, last night I turned the lights on and the passenger side headlight was pointing down at the ground. On closer inspection the inner part of the headlight seems to have slipped, as if the bottom part containing all the reflectors has come unscrewed at the bottom and tilted backwards.I took a quick look last night and I think I want to remove the headlight and screw all the innards back together, if this is possible - but how on earth does the headlight assembly come out ??There are two screws on the top of the headlight and one down by the grille - all of which I have undone, but still it refuses to come out.I guess it's a little more complicated than this - can someone give me some clues please ?? Thanks in advance Frank Quote
Masked Marauder Posted July 7, 2006 Report Posted July 7, 2006 It is more complicated. One screw more complicated! There are two at the top and two at the bottom. Only loosen the bottom ones though, don't fully remove them or they will drop down and never be seen again! http://www.fordgalaxy.org.uk/ford/index.ph...1&st=&p=entry Quote

And will I be able to get it back aligned or is it a completely sealed unit (but I guess I'll find this out once I have removed it  ) ThanksFrank Quote
chromedome Posted July 7, 2006 Report Posted July 7, 2006 The last screw will be down the side on the headlight near the front edge of the wing. It's a long way down and needs a long screwdriver. Only undo it a couple of turns, DO NOT REMOVE. Once you get the light out, check that the headlamp levelling motor has not come apart. I could be the motor is knackered and allowed the reflector to drop. They are fairly easy to change and, if I remember correctly, cost about Quote
Guest Frank Posted July 7, 2006 Report Posted July 7, 2006 Sounds like more good advice - Thanks. I may be back with more queries after the weekend ......... Thanks again Frank Quote
Guest Frank Posted July 10, 2006 Report Posted July 10, 2006 Thanks Gents - I managed to get the light out at the weekend (a bit fiddly - I hope none of the bulbs blow whilst I'm on holiday !!) and have a better look. It is exactly as ChromeDome suspected - the levelling motor isn't working. Any suggestions where I can order one via the internet or is my local dealer going to be the best bet ?? Thanks again. Frank Hi Frank - I recently replaced one of mine. I bought it from a Ford Dealer in Salisbury they do mail order over the web. The part number I have is 1041664 ( I don't know if they are handed left or right) cost 19.13 before VAT - and they charged 5 for postage. www.edwardsford.co.uk tel 01980 67 60 60 Cheers BJ Quote
