Hi all,

I have a 96 v6 Galaxy Ghia, When I brought the car I was told it had remote central locking, however it didn't work, and I would need to get the key re programmed at ford for

If it has factory fit it will be infra red remote. You will have a little black dome above the rear veiw mirror and one on the tailgate.

Hi there,

There's no reason why it shouldn't although there seems to be plenty of people who have failures!

I bought my mk1 without an i/r remote, but eventually got a new one from fordpartsuk, plus a couple of ordinary spares from e-bay.I let my local auto locksmith cut them and also programme them (no extra cost)

He sat in the car to do it ,armed with a laptop. He discovered that the red key I had didn't in fact work as a programmer key , so that was useful.I'd go down this route also if it's applicable to you.At least you'll get a working remote or at least not fobbed(no pun intended!)off with a crap excuse why it doesn't work.

Regards

to be honest dont waste your time with the oe infra red red remote system! it's crap! no range, line of sight reliant, and not the most of reliable systems! go down the aftermarket radio remote systems that are available and are mentioned several times on here by other members with great results
