marinabrid Posted July 4, 2006 Report Posted July 4, 2006 evning alli have just come home now with cool air how lovely it was. i was even in a good mood.so if you have a rotton pipe from the dryer that runs around the bulkhead or even the fat one from the compressor to the bulkhead never fear. both mine had holes. i got some aircon pipe from autokool he has a website but i lost it i cut out the rot and siliconed and put on 6 clamps each side overkill a bit, then got the man in the van to check it, it was vaccuumed out and tested for whatever else he does shove the gas in and non working for 4 years aircon is up and giving it to me cold. oh joy what joy. maybe all will go pop soon but i shall revell in the cool air for now. so all not lost for Quote

seatkid Posted July 5, 2006 Report Posted July 5, 2006 WELL DONE THAT MAN! :D I suspect that a large number of problems people have are in fact the pipes you replaced. I'm inclined to give mine a try too! Q. Did you cut out aluminium pipe and use flexi pipe in its place? 4 years non-working! Did you witness it first starting - were there any funny noises etc?Hope you replaced the dryer and what about the lubricant? Quote

Masked Marauder Posted July 6, 2006 Report Posted July 6, 2006 The fat pipe goes to the drier, hopefully anything will get stopped there! Quote
Ogben Schmutzel Posted July 14, 2006 Report Posted July 14, 2006 Mentioned this to my mate who runs a small garage and he said he has done this in the past. A bloke with an Audi S2 (I think he said S2) had faulty aircon. Identified a leak in a pipe that was gonna cost Quote
Ogben Schmutzel Posted July 15, 2006 Report Posted July 15, 2006 Did a makeshift job with hose of some sort and it cost Quote
Masked Marauder Posted July 15, 2006 Report Posted July 15, 2006 lol, when I read it I guessed that he had sourced some suitable materials, not just used a bit of hose he had lying around. Quote
Ogben Schmutzel Posted July 15, 2006 Report Posted July 15, 2006 Yeh - made me smile when I read it again. Visualised a bit of garden hose laying across the top of the engine. Cheers.Oggy. Quote
