peteread Posted July 1, 2006 Report Posted July 1, 2006 I have just purchased a auto gearbox from a scrappies...the one in my car is a 4x4 version but the prop shaft has been removed for the past 2 years, however the one I have purchased in not for a 4x4 but is for a 2.8. Now my question is will it fit in my car? I am also asuming that I will have to have the gearbox linked with the ECM? Can anyone clarify these for me please? Quote
peteread Posted July 2, 2006 Author Report Posted July 2, 2006 Just an update for people a straight 2.8 ag4 gearbox will not go into a gal made for 4x4 because the right hand side drive shaft is to short. But have got round it by removing the torque converter housing of the newer one n replaced it with the 4x4 differential of my old one. Mind you I'll never ever do it again, i'll pay the Quote
dipsomaniac Posted July 2, 2006 Report Posted July 2, 2006 how much did the gearbox cost? I had mine re-conditioned a year ago and don't think I will go through that again because it has been back 4 times and I am still not happy. Quote
