Guest dodgy99uk Posted June 28, 2006 Report Posted June 28, 2006 Hi just joined so please bear with me i have had my ford mondeo for quite a while 1.8td ghia model p reg (but mark1 Model)just passed MOT there was an advisory "Slight oil leak" on driverside of engine he suggested it was the Crankshaft oil seal and quoted me 150 labour if i supplied the parts timing belt seal and other gaskets now i just ran it for a while and just recently it is pouring out when i drive it really is bad i use a great deal of oil so i need to get it fixed but just what does the job entail in total is really neccessary to have to replace all these things and if not how much is the oil seal ? approx Cheers ps does anyone now any makes of oil dye then i can just check where it is coming from cause the rocker cover gasket is leaking too!!!! Masked Marauder Posted July 3, 2006 Report Posted July 3, 2006 If it is from the crankshaft then all those parts need changing too. It would be a false economy not to do them. Oil will eat away the timing belt and you don't want the teeth to strip or the belt to snap! A rocker cover gasket is not exspensive, why not change that and see if the leak is from there? Quote
