evening all

one would be gratefull about any pitfalls to watch for when buying a 2.8 model gal mk1. about R reg.

am fully wise on most diesel faults but oppertunity arises for a 2.8 ultima automatic model. any engine or gearbox things to watch for on test drive etc thanks in advance

I have had a 2.8 N reg for the last two years. It's not the ultima range so I don't know what the differences could between the two, but mines done 136K+ on the original engine :P , still has the original exhaust, you can tell this from the rear section, the original is one unit but to replace it you have to fit two, they are joined just in front of the rear axle i believe.

 

I have had to replace the engine anti-roll/torque bar, this is under the engine and with mine a solid thunk could be heard at the start of reversing. Not expensive and easy to replace though.

 

Having a few problems with the ABS at the moment :D , still trying to pinpoint the problem :D ! so do check it's working as it should.

 

Other than that, I have found it to be a joy to drive :D
