Central Locking Again

I thought I'd won my battle with the central locking but now the drivers door will not unlock remotely, although it locks remotely. And if I turn the key in the drivers door the global closing does not work, but I can at least unlock the drivers door this way. I checked the wires coming into the door but I couldn't see any that were broken although there is one with cracked insulation (wires OK).

Sounds like this one is not a DIY job.

Any suggestions apart from sell the galaxy, which is what I'm beginning to consider.
