Guest 10ANT Posted June 24, 2006 Report Posted June 24, 2006 Hi guys, First post so please go easy!. I have an 03 plate Alhambra 130 BHP TDi that seems to be absolutly guttless of boost when accelerating, ie from idle to about 1500 rpm, then once it starts boosting it goes like the clappers. My old Sharan used to pull well from low revs but this one is terrible. I've done the search about the MAF sensor but the symptoms seem to be the opposite, ie loosing power up the rev range. Could it be the MAF or does anyone have any othere ideas Thanks, Paul T. Quote
malcolm.dobell Posted June 25, 2006 Report Posted June 25, 2006 I have a feeling it's a feature - as they say - I noticed mine often needed a lower gear than the old less powerful engine. Perhaps it's linked to being very high geared. My solution - try and keep up the revs. Quote
sepulchrave Posted June 26, 2006 Report Posted June 26, 2006 The high output PDi's are quite peaky anyway, this is why they have close ratio six-speed gearboxes now as standard. You will need to adapt your driving style. Quote
Guest 10ANT Posted June 26, 2006 Report Posted June 26, 2006 Thanks for the Replys, found the problem, The inside of the back box had come apart, there was a load of stuff hanging out the tail pipes. New back box fitted and all is well again. Cut the old box open and found the baffles have rotted away allowing the packing to fall out, the outside of the exhaust still looked in really good condition. Cheers, Paul T. Quote
