K&n Air Filter

Just wonderd if anybody has one of these fitted in there cars and whether or not they think they are worth there money must admit had a friend with a civic type r that fitted the k&n typhoon filter and it made a heck of a difference.Any thought's/experiences appreciated.Here is the filter on ebay http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/K-N-Air-Filter-FORD-...1QQcmdZViewItem

Lots more noise, not much else I think is the general opinion for the Gal. Plus the oil from the filter has a habit of adversly affecting the MAF Sensor.

I think also you need to inform ther Insurers as they don't like any mods like this and it could affect you in the event of an accident claim.

This will also apply to your friend's Civic. The increase / difference in noise may make the car feel faster, but there will be little, if any, difference in actual performance. On modern emission controlled engines, the design of the induction system is usually very efficient, and the air filter represents only a tiny proportion of the total restriction.

If you still want to go ahead, one of these( Cotton Airfilters.) would be preferable to the oiled gauze which K&N use.

I have to agree that with standard induction, changing the filter for a "performance" one will give no gains.

No gains at all, apart from noise.

waste of money.

Stay away from K&N.
