Hi Everyone

I have just discovered this site and wonder if you can help me?

My 1999 Galaxy V6 Auto makes a whining noise when driving which is sort of irritating. My mechanic can't seem to pinpoint the fault so I wondered if any of you on this forum could posibly help.

Thanks

do you have tiptronic model - is the noise the same in different gears at the same rev level? Have you checked the transmission fluid level?

Hi sorry about the delay I had to check a couple of things.

Thanks for replying by the way.

It's not tiptronic and apparently you cannot check the transmission fluid because it's a sealed box so I'm told.

Noise is the same in all gears at the same level.

Thanks

Well folks it seems it was the power steering pully which seized up. Has been replaced and now no noise.

Cheers

wasn't the steering very heavy then?

No the steering was fine, until the pully seized up.
