Ok Guys

Just replaced the head on a 2.0 1995 Mondeo OK the hydraulic lifters took a bit of time to load up on oil so had no compression for about 20 mins of cranking, now the beastie will fire and then die.

No fuel smell, lots of sparks valve timing is spot on to TDC.

Now the question the fuel pump has a master pumping and and a running setting but where is the relay or is it built into the pump ?

I understand that this is not an uncommon event and it has been known that the wiring melts on top of the tank but I have yet to find any info on this, anyone got any suggestions or ideas ?

I got the impression that maybe a fault in a sensor somewhere may be apparent as when I disconnect the camshaft position sensor it has no effect on the engine eg it still fires on cranking and then fails to continue running.

Could it be the idle speed control or maybe a MAF fault ?

Running real low on ideas so any suggestions are welcome.

Thanks
