Ogben Schmutzel Posted June 17, 2006 Report Posted June 17, 2006 This is not about leaking or faulty systems, I am trying to get an idea of whether in your opinion the Climate Control Unit in your cars does its job. Including the Alhambra I have now had two cars with CC and on both I consider that the temperature creeps up without the CC unit increasing the cooling. If I override AUTO then I am happy with the cooling but that, surely, is not Climate Control. Quote
MrT Posted June 19, 2006 Report Posted June 19, 2006 I suppose there must be a difference in performance between the single and the dual climate controls. Quote
strouf Posted June 19, 2006 Report Posted June 19, 2006 Mine (mkII) does not have double climatronic. It's much less efficient than it should. Also the volume of air is not enough. You hear the fan screaming, but you dont feel the air comin out. Quote
zeplin43 Posted June 19, 2006 Report Posted June 19, 2006 Dual a/c is more eficient because it has all the air outlets in the front (4) and 5 outlets on the roof.Single a/c is not bad and the best way to make it more eficient is to put it to the front (top) outlets press the recirculate button, temperature regulation to LOW and shut the back fan totaly off. This should cool the car to an exceptable level. Another way to see if your a/c is working properly is to get an a/c termometer and measure the temperature on the outlets should come down to +- 7 Quote
jkspoff Posted June 19, 2006 Report Posted June 19, 2006 You mean to say that you air con actually works ! Quote
zeplin43 Posted June 19, 2006 Report Posted June 19, 2006 Yes this one i have now (double ac) even gets cold in the car.The one i had before normal ac worked allright when i ran it as described. This in both alhambra mk2.And dont forget i live in Portugal and we have some very hot summer days of 36 Quote
Ogben Schmutzel Posted June 19, 2006 Author Report Posted June 19, 2006 and shut the back fan totaly off. Yeh - if the external temp is at 36 C then on a single aircon system the back fan dragging air in from outside wouldn't be helping much!! Thanks for the input.Oggy. Quote

I thought the back fan is dragging air from inside the cabin only. Are you sure? Quote
raymac Posted June 20, 2006 Report Posted June 20, 2006 Strouf i had my galaxy condenser replaced the other day and asked the specialists about the rear blower and it is only heater and not a a/c unit  Quote
Mauser Posted June 20, 2006 Report Posted June 20, 2006 Since I spotted this topic I have switched mine to Auto, first time in 2 years and so far it seems good, just seems strange having fans going on and off on their own .Guess I'm old school and having fans running all the time would make them wear out faster :D.Time will tellSimon Quote

strouf Posted June 21, 2006 Report Posted June 21, 2006 Strouf i had my galaxy condenser replaced the other day and asked the specialists about the rear blower and it is only heater and not a a/c unit  Yes I know this allright ! Otherwise my car would be a little cooler...I only mentioned that, according to what I've seen when removing the luggage compartment trims, the back fan draws air from inside the cabin only.Yet again , there might be a air intake somewhere back there that I haven't noticed Quote
