Guest gotmiester Posted June 17, 2006 Report Posted June 17, 2006 Good Afternoon. I have a Ford Galaxy 1.9 TD Zetec 2000 W Reg.I have developed a problem with the cooling system. It overheated, the temp guage went into the red and the flashing red light on the quage flicked off and on.I let it cool down and filled the header tank up to the level.I let it tick over for about 45 mins,no probs, quage on norm. However when I drove it again it overheated again after about 7/10 miles.Let it cool down, the header tank was bone dry.Filled it up again, checked for leaks, couldn't see any.Drove it and the same thing happened, when I checked the header tank was bone dry again. Has any other members encounted this type of problem.? I was discussing it with the boys in the pub, allsorts of possibilites, thermostat, blocked radiator, water pump, cylinder head gasket. Can anyone throw some light on this,I got a bad feeling about cost. NikpV Posted June 17, 2006 Report Posted June 17, 2006 have a look at the oil filler cap to check for mayonaise - to rule out gasket - possibly a leak when thermostat open ?? so you cant see it initially???? Quote

Masked Marauder Posted June 18, 2006 Report Posted June 18, 2006 The overheat could be causing the coolant to dump. Check the thermostat first, then the pump. Quote
