Well...I asked!!! They had my car from 7:30am the day that they were being changed, they phoned me at 5:15pm to tell me that my car was ready but they would have to have it back for another day as they had ordered the wrong wheels!! I told them I wanted to keep the old wheels as they were mine, they told me I couldn't as they were being replaced under warranty! I pointed out that I was making a payment for the wheels (even though ford were paying 95%) and they were not being changed under warranty but as part of a goodwill gesture (huh!) They still told me NO! Ford directs answer to this was 'as you are paying part of the cost of the replacements the wheels will be covered by a 12 month guarantee, if they were replaced FOC there would have been no guarantee' I gave up in the end..... but as it looks like you will be paying a bigger chunk for them I would stand my ground and get them out of them, they are legally yours afterall!!

How can the wheels be a "trim" item? Trim is just that - non-essential decoration. Anyone from Fords tried to drive a car without the wheels fitted? The removable centre caps could be classified as "trim", but NOT the alloys themselves.

I argued this one as well Ivor but it is there in black and white...they class them as 'trim' but also told me they were classed as a wear and tear item as well!! Just to rub salt into the wounds I was doing a speedy three point turn outside the house today and rather than hold someone up for another 10 seconds I decided to scrape about 10 inches of the rim against the kerb!! AAARRRRGGGGGHHHHH!! Took a lump out of the tyre wall as wel....MOT failure coming up.... ;) ;)

OK. Here's the final offer:

60% discount (on wheels, centre caps and fitting) + 12months guarantee + Keep old wheels.

In reality the existing wheels really aren't that bad at all and should fetch a good price to recover some of these costs.

At least then slightest blemish on the new ones and straight round to Ford Man for another set !!
