NikpV Posted June 17, 2006 Report Posted June 17, 2006 I seem to remember that early galaxies had a recall/remap of the ecu to cure this problem - if you go to a dealer with the car details they may be able to tell you whether you need it and if its been carried out. Quote
NikpV Posted June 17, 2006 Report Posted June 17, 2006 have a look here surging Is yours a manual or automatic Quote
Guest Eatontoomanygalaxys Posted June 19, 2006 Report Posted June 19, 2006 Mine has done exactly the same for about a year until Saturday and occasionally doesnt start. I removed relay 36 I think (will check) and gave it a wack and plugged it back in, the difference was night and day. However it still does it on and off, I know it is this because wiggling the relay whilst driving cures it. Dont yet know what that relay does. Quote

Guest zephyr Posted June 21, 2006 Report Posted June 21, 2006 Hi, I saw this and thought I'd add that I have the same problem with my 96 2.0l glx I just got. Am sourcing and awaiting a reply from a couple of places about a replacement ecu and remap. A lot of places like Angel won't do it because tof the age of the technology. It isn't the maf sensor on mine as i tried a new replacement on return lol. Where is this relay 36 you are on about, thought i'd give that a try too and find out what it does. Oh, btw I rang ford themselves and they say there was never a recall or advisory with the ecu on the galaxy and have no info on a 'pulsing acceleration' problem Cheers Quote

Guest Eatontoomanygalaxys Posted June 28, 2006 Report Posted June 28, 2006 I am still getting trouble after renewing relay 36 which according to Ford is for the parking light buzzer ( i know this as I have unplugged it while the buzzer is sounding and it goes off) situated below the fuses to the lower right of the steering column. So why when I wiggle this relay does my Galaxy run better and also my occasional non starting problem is also cured by unplugging and plugging it back in ????? Ps I think the wiring diagram in the Haynes manual is for a Cortina not the galaxy!!! Quote
Guest Eatontoomanygalaxys Posted August 3, 2006 Report Posted August 3, 2006 I have changed relay number 30 and it has cured my non occasional non starting. Still surges a bit though. Quote
