Guest Matrix Posted June 9, 2006 Report Posted June 9, 2006 Hi peeps Sorry if this is been asked before but am on hols in Florida on wireless and didn't wanna spend to much time search the forums. We have slight problem with our 2002 Galaxy 1.9 TDi (115). Every so often we have the engine overheat - Normally after going on motorways up a hill - Temp gauge hits the roof and computer starts telling us to stop and check coolant - We do this and there is serious steam coming out of cap if we undo slightly to check - After about 5-10 mins of sat still temp drops back to normal and shes fine for remainder of trip - unless we hit another hill. I tried last time it did this to coast down hill whilst slipping the auto into neutral and she cooled within a couple of minutes - You could see the temp gauge dropping quickly. We've had her into our local garage and they seemed to think that it was a faulty cap which was making the water boil?? - New cap has been fitted and still have the same problem. Could this be a thermostate problem? She's fine round town and on the flat but get to a hill and she overheats. Thanks in advance for any help. Cheers Quote
Masked Marauder Posted June 9, 2006 Report Posted June 9, 2006 Always go for the stat first! After that it could be the pump or the head gasket. Quote
