Bigjeeze Posted June 8, 2006 Report Posted June 8, 2006 Sounds daft but check your brake light bulbs - Quote
NikpV Posted June 8, 2006 Report Posted June 8, 2006 switches on the brake pedal are often the cause of the engine management light coming on, can you check the brake lights when you have the engine management light flashing in case it is an intermittent problem with one of the switches on the brake pedal. (cheap fix if it is) May be a long shot. Quote
Guest ezra Posted June 8, 2006 Report Posted June 8, 2006 just been and checked all lights and brake lightswhile the engine was running and the engine management light was flashingAll lights working fine brake lights working fineEzra... Quote
NikpV Posted June 8, 2006 Report Posted June 8, 2006 well I reckon its either a trip to fords to get the codes read or as mm suggestd screw in an oil pressure gauge in and get a proper readout, my understanding on the gal is that if the oil light comes on then the oil pressure is very low . I think I would get the codes read next :( Quote

Sharan Carat Posted June 10, 2006 Report Posted June 10, 2006 This happens on mine. When stood ticking over in traffic or at lights the eninge management light occasionally comes on. Pressing the brake pedal makes the light go off. Brake lights work ok, new brake switch fitted. Hope this helps Quote

NikpV Posted June 11, 2006 Report Posted June 11, 2006 an some versions at least ther are two brake switches on the pedal possible one of them has a intermitent fault (when we picked our auto up it had been standing for a while and one/both either switch kept sticking (controls interlock and stops it getting into gear) didn't know anything about it then - bloke from local garage used wd40 on it - been fine for 3 years Quote
seatkid Posted June 11, 2006 Report Posted June 11, 2006 Why not disconnect the battery for 5 min to force a reset of the ecu? remember to have your radio code before you disconnect it though. Quote

NikpV Posted June 12, 2006 Report Posted June 12, 2006 after having a look at the threads on engine management lights coming on I can't find any other causes posted other than the 'brake' switch - what other things will cause the engine management light to come on ?? Quote
