Hi All :D ,

I am new to this forum & the galaxy ownership club soon, because I will be getting a ford galaxy 2.3 ghia 2003 next Monday.

I would like to know when the cam belt is changed on the Ford Galaxy 2.3 Ghia model Oct 2003.

The dealer said that it is a stretchy belt that lasts 100k, the Galaxy's has done 63000k.

Is this correct or his he bulls***ing me :D ?

Also when i checked air-con it seamed slightly cool not super-cool like it should be, so I told the dealer I want it sorted out, but could it be a leek on a 3 year old Galaxy or just need re-gassing.

Last thing when checking the engine out there was a little rupture on right hand side of the large metal cover at bottom of engine, what is this & would it need replacing? e.g. below

*--------------********************

*--------------*------top of engine----*

*--------------*----Spark plugs etc---*

*--------------*-------------------------*

*--------------********************

*--------------*-------------------X----*

*---------------* This Part all metal *

*----------------*--------------------* X= Rupture of the metal cover

*-----------------*-----------------*

*-------------------************

Any help would be appreciated!!!

Cheers

The belt never needs changed, it has a chain, not a belt. Perhaps it is the axillary drive belt you are meaning. The service schedule simply says that it is to be checked for wear and tensioned or changed if necessary.

The rupture sounds like the sump gasket, the seller should be able to fix this no problems, the air-con is likely just a re-gas is needed.
