Rear Wiper Assembly.

Ok, went to the shop this morn,left two eldest in the car(5 mins in shop and yes i left the windows open!),

 

come back and they were both stood by the rear of the car playing with the rear wiper..results...whole thing is knackered, there is no pressure holding the blade to the screen,if you shut the tailgate the thing jumps...its like waving a sheet of paper in the air!!,

 

 

How can i fix if it can be fixed...there is just nothing there..no pressure like there is on the front..it waves to you now!!it wont stay upright or lay completely flat if car is moving.

It's tempting to suggest duct tape... :13:

 

It sounds like the little angels have bent the wiper arm - you could try to bend it back?

 

Does anything look bent? Did they bend the tailgate? B)

 

If the pivot pin is broken, you'll need a new wiper arm - I don't think it'll be worth trying to repair it.

If you pull the arm away form the window and look underneath there's a spring which keeps the arm against the glass. If the pivot pin is broken the spring might not be under tension.

Check the piccy.

4 year old took two bolts out of his bunk beds :P, he couldn't find them when questioned :13: two days later - playing shops with his 7 year old sister - I was forced to buy the bolts back for 50p :D :D :D

umm just tried to get spring off to show a pic of the right size and shape - shes pretty stiff, couldn't shift with the arm pulled back - haven't got any decent sized snipe/needle nosed pliers- would be easier with arm removed since spring wont be stretched so tight. Wonder how your little darlings removed it or whether it broke if they pulled the arm outwards. The end of the spring has some sort of offset before the loop - I've got nothing in my spring box like it :13: B)

My little lovies said that when they moved they arm they heard a snapping sound.lucky they didnt hear it again really when i saw what they had done.

Ok....hubby home..he has owned up to breaking it as he had the car first thing this morning as he was late for work!!!he said that it it sprang off when he was cleaning it.
