Porkstone Posted June 27, 2006 Report Posted June 27, 2006 want to fit one but where i have a mk2 dont want it in the dash as keeping standard stereo and cd changer. but where have you mounted yours aint bought one yet but dash and boot mount and where I fitted a roof mount 8" with integral DVD player last week, it is mounted centrally just behind the drivers head so that all the people in the middle row of seats can see it. I have a MkII Zetec TDI so I did not have A/C roof vents or a sunroof to worry about. In this position it does partially obscure the rear view mirror. I made up a plywood mounting plate, cut a section out of the headlining using a sharp stanley knife and bonded it to the roof using a 2-part epoxy resin it has only been installed for a couple of days so I can't guaruntee this method works. I removed the driver's interior light panel and fed the wires for the player up to the headlining cutout section. Prior to doing this I soldered the units power wires to the interior lighting PCB. I didn't think about the power suoply properly because I think it is 'always on' to the interior light pcb so I will have to take it apart and fit a switch. Ideally you would take a feed from the igniton switch so that power is only fed to the unit when the key is in the ignition so you don't flatten the battery. If you ask nicely I could be persuaded to take some pictures and post them. Quote
muffking Posted July 5, 2006 Report Posted July 5, 2006 I fitted mine in place of the boot changer in the o/s rear compartment and moved the changer next to the tool kit, although many on here have fitted the player next to the tool kit or in the recess under one of the front seats. Quote
oscargps9 Posted July 8, 2006 Report Posted July 8, 2006 I fitted a 10 disc DVD changer in the rear offside panel behind the last row of seats. It fits nicely under the CD changer and doesnt interfere with the jack and tools. Its fully remote so load up with 10 films and thats enough for any journey. A little work and sooooo much peace and quiet in the back Quote
