It allows easy removal of old oil from the dip stick access. It looks a lot easier than grovelling around under the car and getting oil up your sleeve ! I have read an independant review on a VW tdi club and they say it can actually remove more old oil than the conventional method. The container holds upto 6 litres. If its as easy as described then it might be worth the money. Anyone had any experiences of it or something like it ? Does anyone know if the dipstick pipe has a sharp bend as this will prevent the extractor tube from reaching the oil pan, or is it straight to the bottom ? Quote

I think the dipstick on both my GLX and my PD are straight in to the sump - but I am not positive. Masked Marauder Posted June 1, 2006 Report Posted June 1, 2006 A local filling station near me had a machine for this. You bought your 5 litre can of oil and got a token for the machine. Put the tube down the dipstick hole, the token into the slot and 30 seconds later if needed you could spin the filter off, new one on. Oil in and bobs your uncle. No getting rid of the old oil either! Not enough people used it so they removed it. They remove the oil by a big vacuum unit at my work, as they also do at the local Mercedes dealers. Dirty oil is pretty toxic and anything they can do to stop in coming into contact with the fitters is a good thing. Quote

zeplin43 Posted June 1, 2006 Report Posted June 1, 2006 I dont know if the suction machine works but i usualy have a similar job done to extract the oil from my motor but with a more profissional machine it is proven that it sucks all the oil out (4.5 l) if you change filter as well this is for a tdi motor.The suction tube is normaly made of plastic sort of material so it can bend or twist to go to the botom.The best is that the old oil is then collected to be recicled or properly distroyed. buford_t_justice Posted June 1, 2006 Report Posted June 1, 2006 I've used my Pela6000 extraction pump now for over 2 years and think it's great. I change the oil and filter every 5000miles and it makes the whole process that much quicker. Remember to make sure your oil is very warm/hot when you suck it out to aid this process and also ensure that any solids in the oil are held in suspension and successfully removed. I tend to do two oil changes with the pump and the third from underneath just so the sump plug washer is renewed. You have not been ripped off then! Just because PP forwards your cash to the seller it does not mean your going to get anything for your money! You ship the laptop registered delivery and it is signed for. Six weeks later you get an email saying the credit card payment has been back-billed and that PP have taken the money out of your bank account! eBay don't want to know, it is over 28 days from the transaction. Pay-Pal don't want to know, it is over 28 days since the transaction and they have their money back. The police don't want to know saying it is a civil matter and suggesting county court action. PayPal is ok, I've never had any problems with them, but yes I agree they do charge too much, and sometimes payment can take a while to come through, but I just wish there was some other company as reliable but cheaper to use, I know of Nochex and others like it, but just like ebay, Paypal seem to have the market cornered. If everyone uses it, then you have to too, to enable easy sales etc. Quote
