Hi, can anybody tell me how the hell I replace the bulb in the Front O?S fog lamp and remove the Frtont n/s Sidelight untit to replace the bulb?

i take it from looking at your earlier posts that you have an R reg (mk1) ? the fog light lamp holder is accessed from the rear of the bumper, if you look at the back of the unit you will see a spring clip holding the cover in place, release the clip and unhook the cover, the way to push the clip is self explanatory once you see it! again there is a wire spring clip holding the lamp in place, unhook this and remove the lamp, disconnect it from the loom and replace it with a working bulb, remembering not to touch the new bulbs glass surface! as this can shorten it's life!

the side light unit? the side light is part of the main head light! there is a large domed cover on the rear of the head light in the engine bay, twist and remove this and you can see the main head light bulb in the center and to one side of this slightly lower down is the side light bulb, this is just pulls out of the head light! again try not to touch the glass!

Hiya, I replaced the fog light on my sharan while it was in for a service....i just went in while i saw it was on that lift thing (what they put the car on, to lift it up if any work is needed underneath the car). You have to put your hand behind the light bulb i.e say the fog lights are level with your head and you are looking at it from the front end of the car, towards the rear of the car, put your hand directly behind the fig light....there is a cover there and it may be hard to open....you might also be able to do it with a jack if its high enough...

 

if you dont understand the above then ask me and i'll try to explain in a better way.

Thanks for your help it's much appreciated. You're right it is a Mk1. However, I made a mistake when I said side light I meant Indicator light and I also want to remove the unit.

Open the bonnet and you will see a screw to the side of the head lamp. Loosen it and pull the indicator out.
