Guest funkmiester Posted May 30, 2006 Report Posted May 30, 2006 Hello.., I seem to have a problem with the front end. When pulling away at a junction (right more than left) there is a knocking sound from the front. Initially thinking it was a cv joint problem I booked it in. The CV joints/rubbers are fine. abs ring is in place. This is where i kinda get stuck...... Any ideas ? Thanks Guys Quote
NikpV Posted May 30, 2006 Report Posted May 30, 2006 maybe a droplink - do a search - doesn't knock all the time, difficult to find any play by pulling it though Quote
west Posted May 30, 2006 Report Posted May 30, 2006 1. B&Q car park.2. Do large donuts on full lock both directions.3. If knocking, then the cv joint is probably worn (rubbers fine or not)4. Check bearings by raising wheel and rotating wheel perpendicular to axis (vertical and horizontal).5.Otherwise drive in straight line on smooth road then on bumpy road. If noise on latter, check drop links and bushes. Quote
NikpV Posted May 30, 2006 Report Posted May 30, 2006 if it is droplink you might find this link from the faq useful Link to anti-roll car thread Quote
Ivor_E_Tower Posted May 30, 2006 Report Posted May 30, 2006 In the last 2 weeks, my drop link bushes have worn so much that now they sometimes knock when changing gear as well as when pulling away from rest. Really must get it booked in to be sorted. Quote
Andrew T Posted May 31, 2006 Report Posted May 31, 2006 There are occasional reports of one of the Engine mount bolts shearing, allowing the engine to rock and knock (which can fracture the aircon pipes). Quote
