A search of the forum didn't return anything (not sure if it's broken as well as my window).

Our 1999 2.8 Ghia X is refusing to open the passenger front window. It just clicks as if it's reached end of travel, and stays put. There is no movement of the glass at all.

I read the threads about wiring issues and had the door apart looking for continuity problems on the power handling wires, as I thought it might be dropping out because it couldn't get enough current, but it does not seem to be this.

So can anyone advise me as to wether the motor might be jammed, the glass might be jammed, or I may still have an electical problem?

Did not want to go taking the motor off without knowing how much of a job it would be putting it back!

Thanks,

Vince.

have you tried the global opening from the key in the lock - turn to unlock and hold - windows should open, with global closing the safety interlock is overridden - don't know if opening is the same - would help if window is a bit tight.

as you suggest - glass or motor jammed - I assume you have tried someone pushing down at the same time as operating the switch, tried with both drivers door switch and passenger door switch - odd I know but I have a rear window which closes and opens fine from switches , opens with global opening but wont close using global closing :( ?

Hi Nik,

Thanks for the suggestions, I did try helping the glass down whilst operating the door switch, and it wasn't interested.

Any ideas what will happen if I start undoing the torx screws that support the motor? I don't want to hear a crashing noise as the glass drops down!

Your rear window sounds to me like the controller needs a good talking to! Is there someone on the forum who knows tech stuff to that level?

I'm pretty certain ny problem is a wire in the loom - fiddling with it makes it work, funny thing is the window motor makes a noise like yours when it doesnt work - Ithinking about it I would check your wires again
