jkspoff Posted April 6, 2007 Author Report Posted April 6, 2007 the most annoying about our galaxy s is the passager window does nt open :D i think the cable come off or somethink . Its most likely a very simple fix, the cable that runs between the pillar and the door is prone to splitting, there are lots of seperate wires, check through them and add a simple connector block or proper wire connector to repair it, mine was the same, it took less than 10 minutes to fix. Smilge Posted November 7, 2007 Report Posted November 7, 2007 ;) Still no complaints whatsoever about mine ..... must have a good one ...... i think it depends on the driver ...mmmm ;) Nope .... still no complaints .... but now it's gone I now don't think about what may have gone wrong with it and how much it may have cost me..... This new beast is totally different and much more fun to drive ..hee hee. Quote
gio Posted November 7, 2007 Report Posted November 7, 2007 all things considered, i have to say its not too bad, afterall bought it with 100k on the clock and at a knockdown price, i would say well worth it. would consider a volvo t5 est with lpg instead though, i do miss the extra woosh, but need a biggish car for the caravan..having said that would also consider a 2.8 galaxy with lpg..... Alwyn Posted March 8, 2008 Report Posted March 8, 2008 just brought my gal , shes two years old and i have just noticed the sills have been damaged, do not know how? Quote
NikpV Posted March 8, 2008 Report Posted March 8, 2008 usually by dealers/kwik fit not using the jacking points (arrows embeded in sill) Quote
Alwyn Posted March 9, 2008 Report Posted March 9, 2008 Im just wondering if damaged sills could be an MOT failure? Quote
NikpV Posted March 9, 2008 Report Posted March 9, 2008 only if they have corroded - damage leads to accelerated corrosion but dont know how much/timescale here Quote
Lyric_King Posted April 27, 2008 Report Posted April 27, 2008 (edited) Hey Im new to the forum and I would like to say that this is my first Galaxy, I brought it new years eve 2007 second hand (its a 51 reg 2.3 ghia) and I think it is a fantastic car. Sure It has a few faults but nothing that cant be sorted out. This forum is probably the most helpful I have found on the web and I have already founmd answers to some of my issues!!!So ford gets the thumbs up from me I LOVE my Galaxy!!!! seatkid Posted May 8, 2008 Report Posted May 8, 2008 (edited) Im just wondering if damaged sills could be an MOT failure? If its corroded and within 50cm (or is it 30cm?) of a seat belt anchoring point then yes. Edited May 8, 2008 by seatkid Quote
workhorse Posted July 6, 2008 Report Posted July 6, 2008 Like mine a lot!!! Most useful car I've had for ages.. It's a van during the week and family transport at weekends. Had the usual aircon probs solved by an independant specialist in Ipswich for less than Frauds quoted compressor cost!! Quote
Mirez Posted July 6, 2008 Report Posted July 6, 2008 (edited) My Mk1 was a fantastic car, didn't have anything go wrong in the year and a bit of ownership. The Mk2's got aircon trouble and needs its driveshafts/CV's changed. Its also needed the wiper mechanism overhauled but nothing other then that so far. Please dont take offence to this as none is intended to anyone but I do find it interesting though, by comparison (as admin of the mondeo forums) that the general population on here seem to have an advesity to spending time and/or money on maintenance by relation. There are loads of posts about aircon getting warmer and wipers slowing down but very few take action at that point, most seem to say "I'll wait" and then grumble 2 months down the line about the fact its broken compleatly and costs 5x as much to fix. There also seems to be far few DIY'ers on this site by comparison which is probably also to do with it, I'm used to "it cost Edited July 6, 2008 by Mirez Quote

jkspoff Posted July 6, 2008 Author Report Posted July 6, 2008 (edited) Quite possibly correct in many ways, but very brave of you to say so ! I think as mentioned above the Galaxy owners tend to have large families, hence the 7 seater people carrier, so any spare time is taken up looking after flocks of kids ! :angry2: Edited July 6, 2008 by jkspoff Quote
Mirez Posted July 6, 2008 Report Posted July 6, 2008 Preceisely that, I certainly wasn't trying to upset anyone BTW its just something I've noticed having spent so much time on another forum. I can fully understand the reasons, be it because of family commitments or whatever I just wanted to defend the Galaxy a little from what is potentially a biased view and shed some light onto why so many feel unhappy with it when, perhaps, they are actually just Peed off at the dealer service/costs. :angry2: Quote
mumof4 Posted July 6, 2008 Report Posted July 6, 2008 well....what interesting posts. there are a lot of DIYers on here, me included, i was forever sorting my old gal out. and i would work on my vectra aswell, ive worked on this gal and there is yet more work to be done on it. being a single mum and driving 230 miles a week to get the kids to and from school i have to keep my car on the road. i cant afford garage prices, so i will source parts from members on here or from a scrappies. the milaege i do each week is worth it...as now my daughter is getting the help she needs so please, no.."its your choice to drive that much doing school runs crap" ive still got a door card to fix, a wing mirror to fix, an oil change to do, a bumper to replace, steering to sort out, and a few other bits. besides, since the majority of members on this forum are men, and usually its the mrs that drives the kids around on a day to day basis, then im assumeing the lads on here may be scared of upsetting mrs if they work on said car, it goes wrong, car off road and mrs and kids have to walk the mile or so to school! very uncalled for comment..but i really am not in a very good mood.... but the school my kids go to..some of the mums there, come out the driveway 3 houses down from the school, drop kids off after checking to make sure make up/clobber is correctly aligned then drive the few yards back home again.. its bloody ludicrous! come sept, my eldest will be walking about 3 miles a day thereabouts to get to school and back.i could drop her off.....but the walk will do her good. allllllllllllllllllllllllllsssssssssssssssssssssssooooooooooooo..we have a lot of lurkers, who get the info they want, do the work, then post that they have done it. yeah, some cant be arsed, wait till it gets to sell the kids, house and ass then come on here and moan. But thats life, cost of everything is going up..the wait and see is purely because they may not have the few quid needed to fix at that point, and by the time it gets to blown up/screeched to a halt/ stopped/wont work after a few months of various faults then it costs the earth and people lose the will to live and get rid of said car. God im in a reallllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll good mood this eve.lol Quote
dave21 Posted July 28, 2008 Report Posted July 28, 2008 problems over the last 3 yrs (o2 ghia1.9tdi) windows regulator alty ,clutch/ ball joints wishbones track rods fuse box and now startibg problems waiting till march next year and changing to a new vito can be any worse or can iy Quote
seatkid Posted July 28, 2008 Report Posted July 28, 2008 I love my Alhambra! Its as faithful as an old hound, as cuddly as a kitten, and as cheap to run as a Halfords pushbike (well almost :) ) Its the most reliable car I've ever owned. Of course, not letting it near a garage mechanic helps a lot..... I'll not let it go until it dies of old age.......its ten years old this year......what's that in doggy years? Quote
gavmck Posted March 27, 2009 Report Posted March 27, 2009 never had a problem with mine until now and now its starting to cost me money im going off it ..lol Quote

smokie Posted April 13, 2009 Report Posted April 13, 2009 got my 52 plate 1.9tdi galaxy end of jan 09. touch wood its been very good so far. have had an issue with the leaking rear washer jet in the passenger footwell, had to fit a new glowplug to the aux heater which with the help of this forum i did myself, got a parking sensor u/s spare parts on the way to fix with thanks to this forum and its members. fitting cruise control this month and once again thanks to the tips i have received off this forum and its members shouldn't be such a headache (fingers crossed). the reason we got this car was due to our expanding family and it really has been brilliant, luckily the car had 2 built in child seats and these really are useful. My only regret is that i didn't get a Galaxy sooner, messed about for 2 yrs trying to cram 3 kids car seats into a Scenic when i should have got a gal in the first place. Quote
srafferty Posted April 13, 2009 Report Posted April 13, 2009 Smokie a wet passenger footwell can be an AirCon problem!!! Did you see the damage to the old jet? Sorry to be off topic folks. Quote
