AndeeeH Posted May 26, 2006 Report Posted May 26, 2006 Here is a copy of 'The Letter of the Month' in The Caravan Club Mag. for June:'I have just read an article in a motoring magazine regarding the use of camera and radar detection devices carried or fitted in vehicles while travelling in France. They are totally illegal, whether they are switched on or not, and being caught in possession of one can result in a very hefty fine of around Quote
Guest MATT jr Posted May 26, 2006 Report Posted May 26, 2006 jeeze lol our satnav has a camera database in it - would it be best to remove this when we go spain? we can add it when we get back. MJR Quote

MJR Probably depends on how good your French is. Would you be able to explain to the nice Gendarme that you have the satnav but not the camera database? BTW have you and your Dad got your route sorted yet? :20: Andy. Quote
NikpV Posted May 27, 2006 Report Posted May 27, 2006 The letter mentions satnav with camera detection - not a camera database, would a road map on which you have marked the positions of cameras on be illegal??? Quote
Bigjeeze Posted May 27, 2006 Report Posted May 27, 2006 It may be worth considering that the usual mapping of cameras is for the UK - not Europe - so the camera mapping wouldn't really be an issue. :20: Quote

There were a lot of frustrated people lined up outside French ferry ports trying to re-arrange their bikes to avoid on the spot fines and the possibility of not being able to continue with their holidays. Sometimes they mean it............. :16: Quote
