When i use rear washer/wiper the wiper will do four or five continous sweeps from

side to side but when it is left on intermittent it will do full sweep but then on return sweep it will stop and start until back to starting position then the process continues but ocassionally it will do the sweep to and fro as it should  any ideas peeps  i'm a bit baffled ;)

The strategy for the rear wiper is to continuously wipe for four cycles when using the wash function but to only wipe intermittently when selecting wipe, I am not 100% sure but some of the Sharans have the ability to go into continuous wipe when reverse is selected.

Thanks Neil  i think i have made a right bollocks :P of explaining this, right it does the the correct cycle when i use the rear washer but when i leace the rear wiper on intermittent it will go from one side to the other side in one movement on the return sweep it will make 2or 3 stuttered movements instead of a whole continuous movement ;) is that better

Raymac - mine does the same, has done since I got the car at 2 years old. I'm not bothered, it's not got any worse. Just live with it !

oh yeah - since then, that pipe came apart again.

i was gonna replace the connector with a non return valve type thing, but there was some problem that i cant remember at the moment.

anyway, last time i fixed it, i epoxied the connector together, and put a jubilee clip on it - so far - everything ok! <touch wood!>

its an easy job - think my dad put instructions somewhere on how to do it.

please help,my rear washer wipe leak seems to be coming from a lot earlier than mentioned..just past the glove box and down onto the trim/carpet,are there several weakspots/joins in the pipe :D  :D  :D  :( ,and if so how do i get in there????????????

thanks for all the info but im afraid its not the right info....the quote above^ is something along the lines of my problem: when you operate the rear wiper, I can see water falling from around the left side of the underneath of the glovebox.....(as seen from the drivers seat)

I'll get a picture as soon as it stops raining....

When i use rear washer/wiper the wiper will do four or five continous sweeps from

side to side but when it is left on intermittent it will do full sweep but then on return sweep it will stop and start until back to starting position then the process continues but ocassionally it will do the sweep to and fro as it should  any ideas peeps  i'm a bit baffled B)

Sorry to bump an old post....raymac,try a generous squirt of WD40 around the spindle (prise up the plastic cover over the spindle end) whilst wiper is on. It cured my sticky wiper sweep. May need to do it every copule of months.
