the remote shouldn't operate the global closing anyway (safety interlock on windows is disabled) for safety reasons

thanks nik my old rover 800 had global closing on remote it had the safety bit aswell (when the remote was working of course) used be able to shut all 4 windows and sunroof, but don't have that anymore!!!

glad i;ve got Forever On Repairing Daily.....

safety interlock is operational when shutting windows from inside the car, it is overidden if you try and close them 3 times, from outside the car it is always overidden.

ps I am pretty sure you can enable remote global closing using vag-com - hearsay however

You can buy an after market kit to make it remote, I have a 96 Sharan that has locking and global but only on the key,I brought a kit for

I'd rather not risk my kiddies fingers by accidentally operating the global closing whilst the remote is in my pocket

galaxy99, did you find a kit for your Gal?

I'm thinking about the Cobra 1046 as morticiaskeeper fitted, but if you have found a better one I could be interested!

It would help if you could tell us what model/year/trim car you have - best put in your signature line then you can forget it

probably not on your age of galaxy - if fitted ultrasonic volume alarms are on the top of the B-pillars

cant see it has anything to do with central/remote locking either - see diagram (actually a sharan - but is the same) besides zetec did not have remote cl as standard, prior to '98 gals were fitted with IrD remotes with sensors near rear veiw mirror but yours is too modern

Possibly something to do with heated front screen which divided into two - how heavy duty was it ??

when programming remote it tells you to aim at rear view mirror

yes, I think this is a hold over from the previous versions of IrD remote where the sensor was in a little dome near the mirror - just stayed inthe instructions

i believe Justice is refering to a kit similer to this one? https://sslrelay.com/s74326199.oneandonesho...ndex.shopscript

this shop used to do one specifically for the Sharan, but no longer appear to ;) you could try your local VW dealer parts counter and see if the kit is still available? iirc? the part number on my invoice was

7mo 054 660 A not quite sure on the last few digits as the invoice is a bit tatty!
