sparky Paul Posted June 11, 2008 Report Posted June 11, 2008 I've been suffering again with the front-end rattling like a bag of bolts. I bought two droplinks this time, figuring that they must both be about ready by now... Good job I did, they've both had it. Can't really complain, one original one from new, the other one was changed about 50k ago... the old bus has done 83k now. :) Quote
paulmpaciorek Posted September 20, 2008 Report Posted September 20, 2008 Hi all. Not been here for a while but I thought I would share some words of advice with you all...............NEVER EVER BUY DROP LINKS OFF EBAY !!!!!! They are a false economy....unless of course you enjoy changing them on a regular basis....I prefer to do other things on a Saturday morning. I've had three off Ebay and yes I hear you say "you should know better after the first one". Anyway a lesson learnt. I bought a pair of Quinton Hazzell ones from my local motor factors......get this for Quote
mikej Posted September 21, 2008 Report Posted September 21, 2008 Have to agree with the drop link replacement when it comes to knocking on the front , my Gal 2001 petrol has had 3 pairs fitted this year , i ain't joking ! When i priced the real things at fords they were stupid money approx Quote

Ginettamad Posted September 23, 2008 Report Posted September 23, 2008 Did one dro[p link last night in 20 minutes but the other took 2 hours of undoing and tightening working the threads with WD40 and the nuts still wont come off the ends as the threads are so tight at their ends. I ended up re doing them for another day as it was pitch black outside and dinner time! I'll be getting out my angle grinder and grinding off the threads next then the buggers will come off! Be warned some are easy some are not!Cant wait to trying to get my struts out to change the 2 broken springs!!H Quote
ang Posted May 15, 2009 Report Posted May 15, 2009 brilliant thread - one of mine definitely needs replacing and I'll tackle it myself after reading the comments posted here. One bit of info that I cannot seem to find is whether the new drop links need to be torqued to a certain amount. I assume that since there is no mention of it then 'tight' is the way forward? Quote
mikej Posted May 15, 2009 Report Posted May 15, 2009 Quote : The ones I bought from my local motor factor were identical to the original ones, even down to the part number on them, and they were very reasonable IIRC.Mr Sparky Paul what make and how much is resonable ? Quote
ang Posted May 15, 2009 Report Posted May 15, 2009 further to my post earlier today i bought 2 drop links from my loacal motor factor this aft and fitted them - omg what a difference, Quote
