Masked Marauder Posted June 2, 2006 Report Posted June 2, 2006 The 215/60 has a stiffer tyrewall. That is most likely why VW say they don't need to be reinforced. Quote

Guest ksjdfbgkj Posted June 3, 2006 Report Posted June 3, 2006 The 215/60 has a stiffer tyrewall. That is most likely why VW say they don't need to be reinforced. look here three of my tyres are load 98 rated and one is 95. but that isn't the point, the point is, if the tyre you have can support the weight of the car do you need reinforced tyres?because the load rating of a 98rated tyre is 750 kgs, multiply this by 4= 3000KGS- much more that what the car weighs around 1800kgs, 2500kgs with a full load I guess. any thoughts? sepulchrave Posted June 3, 2006 Report Posted June 3, 2006 I think that you'll find that the 215 tyre is only a recommended fitment for the Gal and some big fat exec motors, and is in fact already reinforced due to it's load rating. Quote
tim-spam Posted June 4, 2006 Report Posted June 4, 2006 The 215/55R16 tyres on my Alhambra are reinforced, and this is specified in the manual - this is also what the car was originally supplied with. This size of tyre is available in reinforced and non-reinforced versions - look on mytires.co.uk and you will see. Quote
sepulchrave Posted June 4, 2006 Report Posted June 4, 2006 Sorry, I meant 215/60/15 not the 16's. I haven't bothered checking, I'm sure you must be right. :P Quote
Guest ksjdfbgkj Posted June 4, 2006 Report Posted June 4, 2006 urm, sorry i dont get that: i'm sure I might be right about what? Quote
