Petrol Smell

Hi There

 

I own a N reg 1996 2 ltr petrol galaxy.

 

When driving after approx 15 mins i get a stong smell of petrol in side the vehicle,i can see no signs of any leaks,does anyone else have the same problem & if so any solutions.

just because you can't find a leak, doesnt mean one does not exist

if you are capable, look around the car for obvious signs.

 

other causes:

 

holes in bodyshell (exhaust fumes)

blown exhaust

choke stuck on

petrol pump leak

fuel line leak.

 

But , sound like petrol is leaking and building up (15mins) somewhere.

 

If i were you, id take it to a mechanic and take no chances.

Petrol fires are frigtening

It could just be that a pipe has come off of the carbon canister behind the drivers side front wheel arch, it was exactly that on ours and caused the exact symptoms you describe.

Put "carbon canister" into the search box (change 30 days to any date).

i had this problem it was coming from the carbon canister under the wheel arch on drivers side my pipe hadnt come off it snapped so i sorted this by getting a piece of tubing from a spray bottle l(like windoline) and inserted one end into top of canister other into pipe that had snapped and used evostik <_< problem solved
