Hi,

I have a 2.3 petrol year 2000 on a V plate Galaxy... where is the ODB connection port for the management computer?. I can't find it?.

I have starting issues and wondered if I need to clear error log's?.

Thanks

Rob

Not sure if it helps but mine is under the Ashtray in the center console.

Thats on a Mk.1 2.0 GLX.

Sorry if it isn't.

Might be an idea to have an FAQ on 'Where's the ODBII connector'

Then list all the possibilities.

The OBDII reg state that from 2001 all OBD connectors must be in view of a crouched technician in the drivers area.....

Having said that the protocol is standard the only thing which is not standard is the additional communications that are available through the vehicle LAN to the independant modules.

Each manufacturer must include a certain amount of the standard decipher units to allow the standard list of emmision control data to be available, originally though to be part of an international type MOT for emmisions. Any additional communcations and variable and adjustments are not covered by legislation and hterefore can be restricted to "manufacturer only" systems although most can communicate to any diagnostic equipment but the equipment may not be able to adjust or set the parameters.

The VAG COM unit can communicate but cant adjust on the Ford engine so may or may not be able to display the results depending on what information is present at the time of connection.

Ok... thanks guys I've found it under the ash tray (the connector socket is purple in colour)... Just now need to re scan ebay for either a handheld unit or laptop job!

Any ideas on what to go for, or not !!!

Thanks

Rob
