AJ55YOO Posted May 16, 2006 Report Posted May 16, 2006 The Galaxy's gone to CD Bramell's (now Even's Halshaw) in Batley, Wakefield today! Has anyone any dealing with them? They were recommended to me by a Focus owner.. The reason. The 'coil' (yellow looped line) light was flashing on and off and the message 'Engine Workshop' was briefly displayed. However it was running fine at the time, no loss of power etc... Reading through a few threads on this site it became evident that it needed linking upto a computer (VAG-COM) to locate the problem.... In addtion to that the bulb failure light stays on for a while after starting up then goes out not in relation to turning lights on/off, braking etc... Could they be linked? So I wait in anticiaption of their diagnosis.......... I have wrote this in 'dealer service' as they were extremely helpful when i called in yesterday to ask for advice and managed to 'squeeze' me in today. Hopefully they will maintain this good customer service while sorting out my Gal... Will they be recommended, we shall wait and see!!! Quote
NikpV Posted May 16, 2006 Report Posted May 16, 2006 Were your brake lights working  ? Quote
bigdaddy Posted May 16, 2006 Report Posted May 16, 2006 The little coil lit is your glow plug on lit,,,and this could be as simple as a faulty brake light switch  They managed to squeze you in,,,,,,,that means bring down today,,,we will look at it on friday and we will repair it on monday if we find the fault, and if we can be bothered you can have it back (not repaired and with more faults) in 3 weeks time,  :D Quote
AJ55YOO Posted May 16, 2006 Author Report Posted May 16, 2006 As the brake failure light was intermittent, I've never actually checked any bulbs while it was illuminated. Perhaps it would have been best to check (now you mention it) can't all have brains, some would have been nice... But all the lights do work when its not! Quote
AJ55YOO Posted May 16, 2006 Author Report Posted May 16, 2006 The little coil lit is your glow plug on lit,,,and this could be as simple as a faulty brake light switch  I so hope it is something as simple as that, But it will be interesting to see what they come up with at the garage.... I put a new brake bulb in about 2 week ago, could it be faulty? Quote

Just as you said Bigdaddy! The brake light switch!!!!! Now how much do you think for finding the fault and supplying and fitting the part? Quote

tim-spam Posted May 17, 2006 Report Posted May 17, 2006 What's all this about scraped knuckles? If the lower RH dash panel is removed, there is no problem with access - unless, of course, the Galaxy is different in this area to a Sharalhambra..... Quote

Need some one local with VAG-COM...... Quote
