tightlines Posted May 15, 2006 Report Posted May 15, 2006 Hello everyone, Newbie to the site and very informative you all are. I've not long had my 02 2.3 Galaxy and love it. But as I turn the key to 'on' the front wipers twitch, sort of check themselves out. I see the nearside one clearly move down then up about an inch, then as I start the engine it does it again. Now this site is overflowing with wiper faults so I cleared out the hard to get to 'water-trap' and check out the workings and it all looks fine. Apart from that everything works as it should, so shouldn't really complain. Any thoughts. Thanks for you time,Steve Quote
Masked Marauder Posted May 16, 2006 Report Posted May 16, 2006 Mine certainly don't but mine is a MK1, the wiper electrics are different on a MK2. Can anyone help with this? Quote
Guest neil_wiles Posted May 16, 2006 Report Posted May 16, 2006 If you have a MKII and your wipers are set to intermittent then they have a raised parking position and will dip when the ignition is switched on and also if a power loss is detected. If you have rain sensing option then the normal is to leave the wipers in the on position as they will only wipe if the screen detects water, this will also appear as being in the intermittent wiper position and the normal running position is a raised park position. Hope this helps. Solution try and set the wipers to the off position when not needed even if the rain sensor is fitted. Quote
tightlines Posted May 16, 2006 Author Report Posted May 16, 2006 Thanks for the info, yes it's a MkII and doesn't have rain sensors. The switch wiper switch is in the off postion when it happens. I understand when you describe that when the wipers are turn on they do 'park' a little higher up the screen, my twitch is around half that distant. Sound like it maybe a nervous twitch, but my wife hasn't driven it yet so need not worry! Thanks againSteve Quote
