Ogben Schmutzel Posted May 15, 2006 Report Posted May 15, 2006 comments/suggestions etc please.Unless you have to for warrantee reasons steer clear of the main dealer and find a good garage or A/C specialist that actually knows and understands how it works! Best of luck.Oggy. Quote
Wideboy Posted May 16, 2006 Report Posted May 16, 2006 Having mine done this friday regas/service/leak test let you know how it goes, quick question when i have the climate on and the mpg reading goes down, does this mean that the compresser is working as it should or not?? Just hoping not too much is wrong with it when we have the service.Obviously if you switch off the climate the mpg goes up. Quote
Masked Marauder Posted May 16, 2006 Report Posted May 16, 2006 The increase in fuel consumption is because the clutch on the air con compressor has engaged and is transferring power from the engine. It only shows that the compressor is causing drag, nothing more than that. Quote
Wideboy Posted May 16, 2006 Report Posted May 16, 2006 Thank you for that,i will report back on friday let you know how it goes specialist garage doing it,have used several times in past,so will see whats what. After reading the bit on how to check your aircon at least i know the compressor is ok as i followed instructions off this post and it spins freely so thats a good start. http://www.fordgalaxy.org.uk/ford/index.ph...topic=8308&st=0 Quote

TimK Posted May 23, 2006 Report Posted May 23, 2006 i've just been told my compressor in busted, so i'm looking to source one from somewhere. Can anybody tell me the exact model for a mk2 Galaxy 2000, i know its the sanden sd7v16 bit i believe there are a few variants of this model. And is the Gal compressor the same as the sharan and alambra?? Cheers Quote
Wideboy Posted May 24, 2006 Report Posted May 24, 2006 Yes when the car went in for the aircon to be re-gassed the display was flashing after re-gass stopped flashing so i guess that part worked ok,even considering px this car on another rather than having to shell out Quote
Wideboy Posted May 27, 2006 Report Posted May 27, 2006 Ok bit of an update the man in the garage also said that it might charge itself up and start working if there was any kind of air lock,as it seemed the air con hadn't been touched for a while, and low and behold 2 days ago wife said it working it a lot colder now so i had to investigate and hurrrahhhh its working spot on now. That saves me a few quid anyway,so holiday will be nice and cool. :16: Quote
