Ok...how can i remove the head unit without breaking my fingers when i dont have the correct tool to do it???Ive been using a very small screwdriver...got it out 3mm one side...now my fingers and hands feel like they got dents in them.

 

any ideas?

Usually you can use two bits of metal coathanger - each about 6 inches long bent into a 'U' shape with about 40mm between the ends - insert into holes - push apart (I think) and pull head unit out -

 

 

Ps no broken nails

When did you last see a metal one ?

 

All the modern ones seem to be plastic. Not only do they break VERY easily but you cant use them as replacement radio aerials or unwind them to create a useful drain poking tool.

 

I darent even think about the fire risk when using plastic coathangers for the "Blue Peter Advent (candle thingy)" Sorry, cant remember the proper word :huh:

Well, i used two thin screw drivers and managed to lever the head unit out,

Now just got to get the new one playing cds!!.I bought a 6006e head unit.(cd player integrated on it!)I get an error code 3 on it.and can i find my audio guide???no! :huh:

After I posted I wondered if they were still around - I've always got a couple in the shed for just such tasks as wire threading and drain unblocking :lol: ;) :lol:

It does look nice...i waited ruddy ages for it to arrive...now the dang thing wont play cds!!!!

Gonna take a looksie inside it later to see whats going on

Hmmmm...what can i say.....

Nik......well...ive been banned from taking it apart. :(

 

Hubby wants to send it back but from all ive read..it may be fixable diy style...i mean..ive been fixing the car!!!!

Oi!!!!.........my mistakes mean other peeps learn by them and learn not to do what i do!! :D :blink:

Anyway...cant be that hard to sort out and put back together.I mean....ive taken a changer apart..a stereo..a washing machine...a car..(well..with help)...a hoover...um.....wont touch tellys......so how hard can it be???? :blink: :D
