Door Lock In Handle Rebuild Help

hi there,

couple of weeks ago i was unlocking my galaxy and the key suddenly turned beyond it's stop basicly spinnin in the door handle, anyway rang ford and they said it was the lock and it would be a complete new handle at

I have a diagram at home can post it later but you may well find the casting on the back of the barrel has two ears and these are likely to have been broken off if you have been able to rotate the barrel 360'.

 

These are also used to locate the spring so it sound potentially the problem.

 

Hope fully someone with the TIS will post the image soon.

 

I had the same problem after the locks had frozen with a sharp frost.

thnaks for that i bought a new handle from euro car parts for

there is a little jig which locates the spring in the lock until the paddle and clip goes on - the paddle is then rotated until it free te spring - couldn't find anything on tis about it but there are some diagrams (which I have at home) wich I found for another poster - Jim I think in the last couple of days - I will have a look tonight if neil doesnt post anything first.

his problem is similar there are about 8 diagrams/stages for re-assembling the barrel onto the handle

sorry no - I was assuming that the diagram would help you to see if you are missing any bits/broken - if not I would try and find a bit of tube the right diameter and hold it down with something like a pencil through the middle (with somebody else helping - to get the spring in the correct position brfore fitting the paddle.

 

Not tried it myself :lol: so good luck - let us know how you get on :lol:

 

btw the tool doesn't look very complicted - diagrams show it cut away in diagrams 5,6,7

hi nik haven't had ago yet but went to vw to get somemore replacment bits, (might as well as i've got handles anyway) and luck would have it they do sell to the puplic t10009 tool at ridgeway reading cost

Whilst this is an old thread that has been dragged up, the diagrams posted are really useful and I feel warrant a position on the FAQ. It took me ages to find them on here as well and I feel that this is a common enough problem on the older gals to warrant a sticky posting!
