Guest aahridey Posted May 9, 2006 Report Posted May 9, 2006 Hi, one last problem........'96 2.0 Galaxy.....If I turn the steering of my car whilst stationery this causes the engine to rev. I know thet the revs should rise a little to stop the engine stalling, but this is way beyond normal. Also just recently the engine revs are taking a long time to die when I take my foot off the accelerator for gearchanges etc. On occasions the revs even rise to about 2500 - 3000 when I take my foot off the pedal!!!!What's going on ??????? johnb80 Posted May 10, 2006 Report Posted May 10, 2006 Air leaks into the induction system after the MAF or sticking idle speed control valve (quite likely). Get a can of carb / throttle body cleaner and clean both the idle speed control valve and the throttle body. Regards - JB Quote
daz131 Posted May 12, 2006 Report Posted May 12, 2006 i had a cav before the gal and i found a small split in the air flow pipe (consatina style)it was making the car rev like mad its gotta be worth checking them first as the idle control valves can cost a lot to replace check for splits all throught as the previous thread said between air filter and engine..... johnb80 Posted May 12, 2006 Report Posted May 12, 2006 Whilst it's not desireable to have splits in pipes from the air cleaner, it's only important from this fault point of view having airleaks AFTER the MAF i.e. un metered air is getting into the engine. Regards - JB Quote
