Guest aahridey Posted May 9, 2006 Report Posted May 9, 2006 Yet another problem.........Noisy tappets at tickover, the noise quietens as the engine revs rise. Anyone got tips for quietening them without major surgery? Thanks!! Quote
El Dingo Posted May 9, 2006 Report Posted May 9, 2006 I'm sorry to say (IMHO) that the way to fix them is to replace them. They are not repairable as such, and PTFE oil additives are more likely to sieze them than quieten them. Quote
Masked Marauder Posted May 10, 2006 Report Posted May 10, 2006 How many seem noisy? They inflate with the engine oil so if it is one or two then it is likely they are gummed up, a good oil flush may solve it. If not you need to find out which are the noisy ones and replace them. As long as it is not camshaft wear..... Quote
