Guest airlink Posted May 7, 2006 Report Posted May 7, 2006 Just acquired a Mondeo Ghia 1st Reg was January 2005. Wondering if this model had auto rain senors as standard. Handbook seems to indicate should have and there is a sensor button of some kind in front of screen but after following instructions does not seem to activate. Appreciate any info on this please. Guest EVSS Posted May 8, 2006 Report Posted May 8, 2006 well we have a 54 plate tdci ghia, that has both auto lights and wipers. the wiper stalk should say auto on it and it should say auto on the light switch. (only used the auto lights, but certain i tried the wipers when i first got it by switching to auto then pouring water on the screen where the sensor was. Quote
Guest airlink Posted May 8, 2006 Report Posted May 8, 2006 Thanks EVSS . I can locate the rain sensor on the screen but there is no auto on the wiper stalk so guess this one has not got it. Have the Auto light facility. Notice that it does say 'depending on varient' wrongly assumed that a Ghia spec might have almost the full works. No real problem There seem to be a few 'fiddly' bits on the car i.e. the rear wipe/reverse gear set up is another frustrating area, otherwise I am liking the car. Quote
Fordy Posted May 11, 2006 Report Posted May 11, 2006 Hi, I also have a 54 plate Ghia X which has auto on the stalk, it is the first position upwards. The April 2004 Ford Mondeo brochure states that Ghia, Ghia X and ST 220 should all come with rain sensing wipers.I find that mine work extremely well, through varying degrees of intermitent to full wipe and also fast wipe - and of course off when the screen is fairly dry.Regards, Fordy Quote
Guest airlink Posted May 15, 2006 Report Posted May 15, 2006 Message to all...I have no auto on he stalk of my Ghia but thanks to contributor made the simple setting and it works. Speed of program appears a bit erratic but will get used to it. Having less success with setting rear wipe to 5th gear, not successful yet. Quote

I have the same problem on my 2003 Ford Focus 1.8 tdci Zetec. The rain sensors are blatently there but no auto on the stalk!! How stupid is that! Any way to get the wiper stalk to communicate with the rain sensors? I noticed you managed to get yours sorted and would like to know how you did it? Thanks Quote
insider Posted July 8, 2009 Report Posted July 8, 2009 Are you certain that the rain sensor is fitted? I don't think these were ever fitted to a 2003 model. If you have auto wipers then you should also have auto headlamps as the sensor for both is in a combined unit behind the rear view mirror. Quote

Yes I have the rain sensor behind the rear view mirror (also heated windscreen I guess as part of climate package from original owner) but no 6 speed automatic intermittent wiper stalk. The rain sensors don't even seem to work when in intermittent position 1 on the basic stalk I currently have. Edited July 10, 2009 by croc86 Quote
