Guest lincolnimp Posted May 6, 2006 Report Posted May 6, 2006 :D Just aquired a nice 52 plate TDi Galaxy about a month ago and generally we all love the car. However we have noticed that although the car starts cleanly from cold, if you then leave it to idle for a few minutes it begins to missfire and it doesn't sound good!. If you drive off and car is brought up to temp it seems okay again and will idle fairly smoothly. Generally we hop in the car, start up and drive off and nothing is usually noticed but on one particular day, with young children to gather up I found myself waiting on the driveway with engine idling for say 2-3mins and have subsequently idled the car from cold to see what happens and it does it everytime when cold. Engine has 33000 on clock with new oil and filter, plus air filter fitted and I now wonder where I go from here? Yes I know that I could simple not sit on the drive idling the car as it is environmentally incorrect and costly and generally I would not do this but the point is that something appears to be not quite right. I have a VW 1.9TDi (1997) and it will happily idle from cold until the cows come home! At the moment money is tight and if I have got to go to a main dealer for help I'd rather have some idea of what may be the problem rather than simply write out a blank cheque. Secondly if it is a "fault" I may be able to seek redress under warranty. Any thoughts would be appreciated. If I've omitted anything that Quote
