Hi p3pp3,

Seems 'implausible' all right :D

Check your vehicle earthing as this seems to be a common feature of most if not all the DTC's,

Regards Jeff.

Edited to remove smart comment relating to the trojan after reading Mum's rant of 02-May-06 - sorry Mum :D

Hi p3pp3, just go through and clear all your codes, then restart your engine and rescan.

How many do you actually have now?

Many of them are caused by poor battery condition i.e. during the winter, and you may have had a low coolant incident at some point.

However, your MAF is almost certainly feeling the icy grip of the grim reaper (extreme old age!), and your aircon may need re-gassing (leak) or the receiver/dryer (again, pre-senility) and Hi/Lo pressure switch may need replacement.

I'd be surprised if that many remain, however the main thing is DON'T PANIC and take it to a dealer! They'll do more harm than good.

Its not uncommon for DTC's to get logged due to low battery power, damp in the wiring etc,

Clear them and see how many come back,

Ok, I'm another Newbie to this.

Can i use the VAG-Com system on my 2.0ltr GLX 1997?

I've seen the leads USB & Serial and software, but which do I need?

Ross-Tech talks about:-

Release 512.4 (current)

If the name of your interface starts with:

HEX-

KEY-

or

Release 409.1 or 311.2 (archives)

If the name your your interface starts with

TWIN-

MAX-

UNI-

ISO-

BI-

Where do I find which one I need on my Galaxy?

I can see this coming in very handy even if it helps me see what problems are going on with it and able to clear them.

the type of interface you need is either a KEY_COM for serial Port use or KEY_USB for use on your computers USB port. I have the KEY-COM version (Genuine Ross-tech one). You can get cheaper cables on ebay but these won't work with the latest software and may not be of the same quality

As far as i know the Mark-1 Gal will work with VAG-COM but from reading several postings on this forum certain modules such as the Aux heater don't seem to communicate with it.

Very useful bit of kit and the latest genuine cables and software versions will read and clear DTC's from any OBD2 compliant car (most vehicles post 1996), using its generic OBD2 facility. I have personally used mine on a vauxhall zafira and it worked perfectly.

it will save you

That DigiMoto package looks good.

looks easy to use and comes complete with Registered Software, Lead & Interface.

Digimoto 4.03 - The ultimate solution for vehicle diagnostics, dynamometer readings and statistical analysis.

Purchase Digimoto 4.03 with the mOByDic interface (multi-protocol solution + CAN) for $139.95.

Quite cheap as well.

What is Digimoto?

Digimoto is multiple things. Digimoto is an application that is used for diagnostics, but not just diagnostics alone. It is also used to measure vehicle performance and the state of your vehicles systems at any given point in time. Whether you are a mechanic or strictly into street racing, the Digimoto is the tool of choice.

Digimoto consists of nine distinct modules: Real Time Sensor Charts, Diagnostic Trouble Codes, Sensor Grid, Quarter Mile Stats, Dyno Statistics, Data Logging, Freeze Frame Data, Serial Interface and Gauges.

Gonna have a read later and see how suitable this is with my Galaxy 2.0 GLX

Thanks for the links Peppe :D

Today I made a reset and the "only" faults remaining is...

00515 - Camshaft Position (Hall) Sensor (G40)

30-00 - Open or Short to B+

and..

00561 - Mixture Adaptation

14-00 - Adaptation Limit (Add) Exceeded

Were is the camshaft position sensor located, and is it DIY.

and is the mixture adaptation related to the camshaft....

Thanks Peter.
