SELS Posted May 5, 2006 Report Posted May 5, 2006 Morning people, Can you asist? I have a 2001 2. Galaxy Zetec and I am off to France later this month. Question is, Is the Galaxy equip'd with a switch on the rear of the Headlights to switch to continental driving? (My old Scorpio used to have this facility is why I ask) Quote
MrT Posted May 5, 2006 Report Posted May 5, 2006 I believe that only the HID lamps have this facility on the Galaxy. Quote
SELS Posted May 5, 2006 Author Report Posted May 5, 2006 Thankyou for your response MrT, alas HID not available on my little old Zetec. Back to the old beam deflectors I guess! Quote
MrT Posted May 5, 2006 Report Posted May 5, 2006 What are the better easier fitting beam deflectors for the Galaxy Mk2? I know tape works, but would prefer an easy clip on device. Quote
SELS Posted May 5, 2006 Author Report Posted May 5, 2006 I just buy the usual off the shelf deflectors that adhear to the light lens. May even try the idea of purchasing the deflectors but not using them, but have them in the car just incase the old Gendarme stop me, then play dumb Brit with them! Also, I tend not to be driving on those foriegn roads to late at night as I like to be tucked up in the local bars by then. Quote
Guest stawarz Posted May 5, 2006 Report Posted May 5, 2006 Careful what tape you use on the polycarbonate lens as some solvents you may need to use to remove any residue after baking in the sun can dissolve the surface. I use a set of headlight protectors from Ford (~ Quote
Andrew T Posted May 5, 2006 Report Posted May 5, 2006 May even try the idea of purchasing the deflectors but not using them, but have them in the car just incase the old Gendarme stop me, then play dumb Brit with them! It's an offence not have them fitted even in daylight, that said I reckon about 50% of Brits don't bother with them (compared to 99% of foreign cars in the UK) so maybe the threat of prosecution is exaggerated (probably by those flogging beam deflectors).
