Guest stutvt Posted May 4, 2006 Report Posted May 4, 2006 Hi when i start the engine the climate control lcd screen flashes for about 10 seconds! Today i have also realised that the aircon is not blowing cold air? Are they related? What is the first step? regards Stu Quote
Guest Cepheus Posted May 4, 2006 Report Posted May 4, 2006 Hi Stu. If you use the search facility to search for all posts older than todays date, you will find many threads about this. Causes range from low coolant levels to knackered condensors. Only way to find out for certain is to have the fault codes read using VAG com or by the local Fraud/Seat/VW Dealer. Where abouts are you based? Maybe someone close by with VAGcom on the forums may offer to read your codes for you ...... if they're feeling friendly <_< Quote
lazyb5 Posted May 4, 2006 Report Posted May 4, 2006 mines been doing it for about 6 months so my friend said who i bought it from. Mine still blows cold and seems to work i wouldnt mind knowing what it flashes for though wonder if vw will read it for free <_< Quote
Guest Cepheus Posted May 4, 2006 Report Posted May 4, 2006 wonder if vw will read it for free :) You'll be wondering a loooooong time!! :o Quote
jkspoff Posted May 5, 2006 Report Posted May 5, 2006 Initially, just check to see if the gas needs re-filling. Just had mine done for 50 quid. Need a pressure gauge on it. Quote
jackspud Posted May 5, 2006 Report Posted May 5, 2006 hi i had the same problem, it was low pressure in the air conditioning system, thats why it started to flash. it turned out i had a leak so fixed that and regassed and air conditioning then worked perfectly. but the climate control display will still flash unless you remove the fault code with a vag-com. i hope this helps Quote
sepulchrave Posted May 5, 2006 Report Posted May 5, 2006 stutvt, since you don't have VAG-COM have you tried re-booting the ECU and seeing if the fault clears (disconnect the battery for 10 mins, make sure you have your radio code first tho').VAG-COM usually indicates A/C Hi/Lo pressure switch when interrogated anyway. Which could just mean low gas, as already stated. Quote
dipsomaniac Posted May 6, 2006 Report Posted May 6, 2006 my cc started flashing again this morning. it hasn't done this for 18 months. 5 months ago i had new condenser and the system re-gassing. cc is working ok, so it is a mystery why it has started flashing again. i have vag-com but haven't used it yet, will have a go with it tomorrow and let you know is any cc codes are registered. Guest stutvt Posted May 8, 2006 Report Posted May 8, 2006 Any luck with reading the codes?? Quote
dipsomaniac Posted May 8, 2006 Report Posted May 8, 2006 not yet. laptop would not recognise the vag-com interface. also tried connecting a spare pc up to the car but the cd drive would not recognise the cd so could not load the vag-com software. i have given up until this weekend - will let you know if I find anything. the system should be re-gassed every couple of years. If yours hasn't been, I would start there. Quote
