Guest wind700 Posted May 3, 2006 Report Posted May 3, 2006 Just had my galaxy serviced recently. Ever since I've had it back I've had problems with changing gears. When accelerating the revs increase rapidly but the gearbox has trouble changing into the next gear. To cure the problem at the moment I decellerate and accelerate quickly and it seems to change into the next gear. This mainly happens in the top gears but sometimes happens in the lower gears. It feels like a slipping clutch but this is an auto gearbox! Quote
bigdaddy Posted May 3, 2006 Report Posted May 3, 2006 There is clutch packs in the auto box,,,,and it makes it feel as it is slipping, like an ordinary manual box,,,,,,,,,,,,,,it also may need the ATF topped up  Quote
Guest wind700 Posted May 3, 2006 Report Posted May 3, 2006 If the ATF is ok do you know what else it could be? Quote
zeplin43 Posted May 3, 2006 Report Posted May 3, 2006 Have a tiptronic and it does nothing of that even slips to higher gear before i would like, buy what i have read the atp level is very important on how the gearbox works put it to level and see what hapens. Quote
Guest wind700 Posted May 4, 2006 Report Posted May 4, 2006 just had the car checked at an auto gearbox specialist and the problem is that the 4th gear is knackered. Quote
dipsomaniac Posted May 4, 2006 Report Posted May 4, 2006 try to get a quote for a low mileage replacement box (ideally with a warranty)before agreeing to have the box reconditioned. you can then weigh up all options. I have taken my auto back 4 times since having the box reconditioned - it is still not 100%. Quote
